Well my week of planes, trains and automobiles is over and it ended with afternoon tea at The Drake Hotel in Chicago. A good friend of mine wanted to take me via train to Chicago for an overnight stay. We rode from Holland Michigan on Amtrack to Chicago, did a great deal of shopping and before we left the next day she arranged for us to have afternoon tea before we caught the train.
I have been in The Drake Hotel but it has been years. The hotel was exactly as I remembered, elegant. We sat in a beautiful open room with a ginormous fountain and small tables for two. Men took our orders for tea (we opted for something bubbly instead) and then brought us our three tiered plate of deliciousness! Scones and lemon cakes on bottom, finger sandwiches on top and some pastries on top. Such a cool experience sitting around watching women, little girls and grandmas being taken out by their daughters all having the tea experience.
If you know of an afternoon tea experience, go! Take your little girls, your mom, grandma, favorite aunt or your sister. Definitely a Road Trip Worthy experience :)
Until next time..............................
