Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren are always pretty festive around holidays, including Independence Day. With the 4th of July coming up, the country star tells his record label how his family plans to celebrate the special day.
"My girls love to put red, white and blue face paint on," he says. "Lauren usually puts ‘em in, like, an American flag ballerina outfit, and they love watching fireworks. They love grilling hot dogs and making s’mores."
Usually, Thomas and Lauren have about 150 people down at their farm to celebrate the 4th of July, however due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, this year will look a little different. "This year it probably is gonna look like we’re gonna have a few less people hanging out with us," Rhett explains, adding, "but we do love to hang at 4th of July and love getting to just celebrate that good American tradition."
Thomas and Lauren share three daughters together including 4-year-old Willa Gray, 2-year-old Ada James, and 4-month-old Lennon Love. The country star has been able to spend more time than usual with his family at home over the last few months as the coronavirus forced him to postpone his tour.
His extra time has been spent not only with his kids but also working on new music for fans. In a recent interview with his record label, Rhett revealed that he's written nearly 40 songs over the last few months.
"During quarantine, I mean it’s been 60 something days, I’d probably say I’ve written 35 to 40 songs," he said. "I just feel like any kind of change in life can spark a new idea, and especially the same for your co-writers, because they’re going through the same stuff too."
He's shared several of those new songs with fans throughout the last few months. Recently he shared a song he wrote with his dad, Rhett Akins called "Things Dads Do." Additionally, Rhett has shared "Slow Down Summer,""Ya Heard,""Country Again,""What's Your Country Song?" and "Want It Again" with fans.
