Rachel Zoe Says There Are No Rules In Denim On 'This Is Paris'

On this episode of This Is Paris, Paris Hilton and her co-host Hunter talk with fashion designer, author, and businesswoman Rachel Zoe, who has known Paris for almost 20 years. She jokes that she’s been “auditioning” to be Paris’s sister that whole time, and by the end of the episode, she’s making plans to change her last name legally to Hilton. She tells Paris all about her 30 years with her husband Rodger Berman, what she thinks fashion even is now after a year of quarantine, how she thinks parenting has changed, how glad she is that it’s cool for women to support each other now instead of being catty (like it was when she and Paris were just starting out in L.A.), and gushes over Paris’s enormous engagement ring (“Her left bicep is so much bigger than her right now,” Hunter jokes). Plus, she answers Paris’s “seven sliving questions,” revealing her worst date ever, her top beauty secrets, her current celebrity crush, and her most amazing live music experience.

She thinks fashion will go one of two ways for everyone: Either they’ll be the type to stay casual all the time “because they realized they can, and how much happier they truly are, and how it doesn’t impact their life to be in six-inch stilettos all day,” but also thinks there will be plenty of people who are so happy to be dressing up again “that they’re going to start wearing ball gowns to Whole Foods.” She knows millennials are getting heat from Gen Z over skinny jeans and side parts, but says that while she has always been a wide-leg jean person, some people just look better in a skinny, and “why shouldn’t they wear them just because some meme says you aren’t cool?” And “a good low-slung denim with a cute little top” gives her ‘70s vibes, but she would be very happy if the “buttcrack jeans” of the early 2000s never made a comeback. Otherwise, “there are no rules in denim!”

She says she never had many girlfriends growing up, always getting along better with guys, and when she first arrived in L.A. to start her fashion business, “all the stylists were really mean to me,” she remembers. Paris knows what she means: “It was very catty back then and petty….the media was always trying to pit people against each other,” she says. “It was very high school.” But even in that environment, Paris rose above the rest. Rachel tells a sweet story about when her first book came out, Paris went to the bookstore and posed for paparazzi surrounded by 100 copies of it. “I didn’t ask her to do it, and I cried,” she admits. “It was just such a kind thing to do, and I never forgot it.” Hear more from Rachel Zoe about the craziest rumor she’s ever heard about herself, her top bucket list items, her adorable sons, and much more on This Is Paris.
