Miranda Lambert reacted to a rising singer-songwriterâs reimagined version of âThe House That Built Me.â
Emmy Moyen, a rising artist from Mississippi who released her self-titled debut EP in October 2024, covered Lambertâs 2009 ballad in a video she shared on Monday (February 24). Instead of the original version, however, Moyen reworked the lyrics to imagine âwhat the house might say back.â Moyenâs rendition included nods to âputting handprints in the brand new drive,â the ââhow tallâ pencil marks in the hallway,â and being âproud of how youâve outgrown all my roots, and what youâve grown into.â Lambert shared the clip on her Instagram story on Tuesday (February 25) with a light blue heart emoji and an emoji of a pair of hands clapping.
Lamber released âThe House That Built Meâ on her 15-track album, Revolution. Her latest project is Postcards From Texas, a nod to the powerhouse singer-songwriterâs home state. The album includes âArmadillo,â âDammit Randy,â âSanta Feâ with Parker McCollum, âWranglers,â âAlimony,â âNo Manâs Landâ and more. Lambert recently premiered the cinematic, Western music video for âRun,â a vulnerable ballad written solely by Lambert. Lambert previously explained that the song is âfrom 2015. Itâs old, and Iâve been kind of saving it. It didnât really have a place. And I donât know if I was actually ready, if Iâm being honest, to sing it before now.â Watch the music video again here, and watch Moyen perform her version of âThe House That Built Meâ here:
