TMSG: Teacher Reads To Students On Facebook Live 1 Day After Brain Surgery

K.D. Meucci is a fourth-grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin Elementary in Pennsylvania and she just had to undergo brain surgery.

Meucci had a procedure to remove a brain tumor, and just a day after she was thinking about all of her students. Years ago, Meucci had set up a closed Facebook group as a way for students and teachers to virtually meet and read bedtime stories together. And despite having just went through a serious surgery, she didn't want to miss story time with her online reading group.

She had packed the book Mr. Walker Steps Out by Lisa Graff because she knew she would be joining the Facebook Live. When she hoped on, she wanted her students to grasp the book's message but also know how much they meant to her personally. She said in the video, "Most importantly, I wanted to see you [for you] to see that I'm OK. I look a little funky, but I wanted you to see and know that I'm OK. I just want you to know that I love you and I miss you."

Meucci shared with WTAE-TV that doctors believe they removed all of her tumor, which was likely benign.
