Reba McEntire reunited with Nick Jonas again on The Voice on Monday evening (October 13).
Jonas, who has previously served as a coach, returned to the competition show as a battle advisor for Team Reba. The pop megastar gave McEntire a throwback photo when the pair worked together on Annie Get Your Gun. Both Jonas and McEntire made their Broadway debut in the musical in 2001. Jonas told McEntire that “you were like my advisor…so I appreciate you having me here.”
Jonas added in an interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura that “it’s a full circle thing for me” to reunite with McEntire as a battle advisor for her team.
During The Voice Battles, Team Reba artists Aaron Nichols and Daron Lameek joined forces on a powerful rendition of Elvin Bishop's “Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” earning praise from coaches Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé. McEntire hailed it a “showstopper.” Watch the performance below.
“I love to encourage,” McEntire said of The Voice in an interview with iHeartCountry earlier this year. “I can’t tell anybody, ‘Don’t do this. Go get a job. You’re not suited for this.’ But the way that we get to do the – I don’t say critique – advice, it’s helpful advice. It’s not tear-down. We want to lift up. We want to inspire. We want to encourage, not tear down. They get enough of that out there in the world.”
The Voice airs on NBC on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. It’s available to stream the following day on Peacock.
